Surprises and unknown facts about Afghanistan are the highlights of this great movie called “Kandahar”. The movie made me a fan of Irani cinema and its makers. It’s not just about the landscapes and beauty of the place, but its about the pain, love and discomforts experienced by the people living there without any choice. You will be shocked to see how human bodies filled with life manage to live in those unimaginable circumstances.

The movie is an account of a lady’s journey into Afghanistan and that part of the world for her personal search. It is not a docu-drama but a sensitive and extraordinary portrayal of her unforgettable experiences on the way. There are several realistic and painful sequences in the film shot convincingly by the director. The most disturbing scene is to see, how the injured people get their artificial limbs (which they have lost due to the unidentified mines in the land) from the Welfare Authorities. It is simply awful to see the kind of life, children are living there, specially the girls. Enlighteningly, the movie teaches you about how at times, life can become so tough but still has to be lived like a curse with the only hope of some change.

“Kandahar” must be rated among the Best Movies in the World Cinema as it truly deserves a place among other masterpieces. Thanks to Mohsen Makhmalbaf for making this important movie, capable of bringing transformations in the thinking patterns of the viewer. Please don’t waste any more time of yours and also please don’t hesitate as it’s a foreign language movie, Just watch it NOW if you care about your passion for movies.
