Khosla Ka Ghosla - Bobby Talks Cinema.comThis small budget movie got released after playing a long hurdle game within the distribution circle. And within days of it hitting the screen, the word of praise spread like fire. Suddenly the multiplexes were full with people of all ages coming to have a good time with their entire families, especially in the north region of India. The movie surprisingly entertained every single viewer with its classy middle class humor and superb realistic touches. Above all the main USP of the movie was the true to life Punjabi living style of Delhi, portrayed in the most impressive way on screen, till date.

The story is based on the nexus of Property Dealers operating in Delhi and its NCR, who forcibly capture the properties owned by people living far away and are on constant lookout for abandoned land lying without any visible caretakers. It revolves around a Punjabi family living in West Delhi area who becomes the victim of a wicked Property dealer Khurana, (also a Punjabi), famous as the Don of this Property Mafia. Now how this innocent family and their friends manage to fool Khurana and take their property back from him is the small gist of the story.

The movie can surely be termed as the New Age Masterpiece with a simple yet impressive direction accompanied by a brilliantly written screenplay. The entire talented star-cast lives each moment penned in the script with the right enthusiasm, resulting in many highly enjoyable sequences having a great repeat value. Especially the scenes featuring Ranvir Shorey, his wrestler friends and his incredible one liner dialogues. The narration starts entertaining from the opening sequence itself and you simply start loving it from thereafter. As I feel, the movie can easily be termed as the “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron” of the recent times, where every individual actor, small or big, contributes in his own unique way towards an exceptional cinematic experience.

Another ace in the movie is the authenticity with which, director Dibaker Bannerjee, shows the city of Delhi, its citizens, their language and the life lived by them with an amusing Punjabi flavour. The young and talented director continued with his unmatchable love for the city in his second movie too which was “Oye Lucky Lucky Oye” released in 2008. In fact, I rate both “Khosla Ka Ghosla” and “OLLO” as the two most authentic movies showing “Delhi” and its people on the screen in the right spirits. It also won the National Award for its great entertainment value and mass appeal.

So, if you are a lover of light comedies made on the lines of “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron”, then “Khosla Ka Ghosla” should be the very next movie you watch after reading this write-up.  Along with that I would also like to recommend the director’s second movie, “Oye Lucky Lukcy Oye”, which though is not a straight comedy, but has a similar feel and impact if compared to “Khosla Ka Ghosla”. Hence, just go for your double treat …now!

Directed By Dibaker Bannerjee
Starring : Anupam Kher, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Boman Irani, Tara Sharma & more
