Bunty Aur Babli (2005) & Bonnie and Clyde (1967)

16 Feb, 2008 | Inspired Movies (Alphabetical) / B

The famous Abhishek Bachchan & Rani Mukherjee starrer “Bunty Aur Babli” seems to have a highly inspired title along with its main plot similar to a famous con movie “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967).

However, It cannot be called a copy or version, but only the idea of a couple looting people around and the main title looks highly influenced.

I think it would be worth pointing out that the basic theme of Bunty aur Babli bares a striking resemblance to the James Cagney starrer Blonde Crazy (1931). The original too was a romantic comedy, albeit with its poignant moments.

While I haven\'t seen Bonnie and Clyde, I imagine that movie itself was inspired by Blonde Crazy.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Its quite possible that "Blonde Crazy" (1931) also may have been an inspirational source for "Bunty Aur Babli" as its synopsis looks like the same too.

However it was not a copy of "Bonnie & Clyde" but only took the references out of it.

Cheers~!

Hi Bobby, I feel Blonde Crazy could not have been a copy of Bonny & Clyde- its pre-dates B&C by nearly 40 years!

Hi Ashok,

You are very right. Actually I think you misunderstood the sentence.

In the last line of my reply to your comment  "It" actually refers to "Bunty Aur Bubli" only.

BTW, your comment also reminded me of updating the post with your contribution which I will do soon.

Thanks and Keep Writing In.........Cheers!

Even Sidney Sheldon has written about a duo, Tracy Whitney and Jeff, in his novel "If Tomorrow Comes" Who makes a gang together and steals diamonds.
