Do Knot Disturb (2009) & La Doublure or The Valet (2006) (French)

04 Oct, 2009 | Inspired Movies (Alphabetical) / D

David Dhawan & Govinda’s “Do Knot Distrub” based on extra marital affairs has its main plot of a photograph borrowed from a French Comedy “La Doublure” or “Tha Valet” released in 2006.

In both the movies, a rich married man who is having an affair with a model/item girl gets photographed with his lover. Incidentally another person who was just passing by also gets clicked in that photograph along with the lovers. As the picture reaches the wife of the rich man, he thinks of a plan and blames the other person in the photograph to be the real lover of the girl. Now to make the story more real, he finds the stranger and asks him to act as the lover of the girl and live with her for a few days till his wife gets convinced and the matter is solved.

In “Do Knot Disturb”, Govinda plays the rich man with Sushmita Sen as her wife. The item girl is played by Lara Dutta and the other person in the photograph is enacted by Ritesh Deshmukh.

Quite interestingly, the French movie in discussion here, comes from the writer-director Francis Vebert, who’s earlier “The Dinner Game” was also made into “Bheja Fry” in Hindi. Francis surely seems to be the latest favourite inspiration source of Bollywood Film-makers.
