INFERNO (English) - Offers nothing fresh or exciting in a strictly routine or rather poor mystery thriller. [TTP (To The Point) Review by Bobby Sing]

15 Oct, 2016 | Movie Reviews / 2016 Releases

Ron Howard’s third film on Dan Brown’s novels was at least expected to be an above average mystery thriller with an interesting well-paced progression featuring Tom Hanks and our own Irrfan Khan in a significant role, following the clues left by an eccentric, mad scientist willing to save half of the world (by insanely killing the other half).
But forget about above average, INFERNO is surprisingly not even a fairly ‘time-pass’ watch and appears to be a half-heartedly made B grade suspense-chase-thriller featuring some known names. In fact right from the clichéd basic plot revealed in the start, the film keeps moving on an unexciting storyline making vague historical references without offering any kind of enjoyable thrilling ride heading towards a predictable and pretty weak climax. Nothing seems to be gravely dangerous that needs to be urgently averted by the positive characters in the script and neither the chases nor the secrets bring you on to the edge of your seats providing the return for your money spent.
Most importantly, in this too simplistic and not so happening script, even Tom Hanks looks like doing it unwillingly and only Felicity Jones and Irrfan Khan display some kind of energy in their individual acts. Particularly Irrfan Khan looks like enjoying his role a lot, which I found much better in length than many of his previous ventures abroad.
In short, INFERNO has nothing at all to be mentioned as any enjoyable merit and you might find it pretty bore too, even while watching on a channel sitting at home in the coming months.
Rating : 1.5 / 5
