German director Link's debut in “Beyond Silence” (German) had a touching and engaging exploration of the relationship between a family of deaf parents and their normal daughter who is learning music.

A similar theme was used by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his film “Khamoshi” in 1996, where Nana Patekar & Seema Biswas played the disable couple with Manisha Koirala as their pretty daughter. But there was no indication towards the original movie in the credits like in “Saawariya”, where Bhansali rightly mentioned his inspirational source.
