Lakhon Ki Baat (1984) & The Fortune Cookies (1966)

This light comedy directed by Basu Chatterjee, was one of my favourites till I came to know about its original source of inspiration. No doubt it is a highly entertaining comedy, with superb performances by Sanjeev Kumar as the looser lawyer, Farookh Sheikh as his brother in law and the inimitable Utpal Dutt as the opponent’s lawyer trying to find a loophole in the case.

But the fact remains that the movie is a highly inspired version of Billy Wilder’s “The Fortune Cookies” (1966).
