Mere Apne - Bobby Talks Cinema.com

Gulzar’s sensitive movie on the youth of the 70s. It stresses on the confrontations between college groups and the involvement of the youth in active local politics. The movie brought together two young villains of that era, Vinod Khanna & Shatrughan Sinha and together they were just firs on the screen.

Shatrughan Sinha  made the strongest impact in the movie and his one liner dialogues are still famous till date. Meena Kumari portrayed the role of an old lady thrown out of the house by his relatives. And she once again proved that the sea of talent within herself still unexplored.

With “Mere Apne” Gulzar touched a very relevant and still existing problem of our society where the unemployment youth is used and exploited a lot during the general elections. It is rated as one of the Top 5 movies made by the one & only Gulzar. And therefore is a must see especially for the younger generation. Also watch out for Danny in a completely different get up giving a light cameo performance.

Directed By Gulzar
Starring : Meena Kumar, Vinod Khanna & Shatrughan Sinha
Music By Salil Chaudhary

Well, mere apne is a truly great movie.By the way do you know mere apne was a remake of Tapan Sinha\'s bangla film Apanjon.
People talk a lot about satyajit ray ,ritwick ghatak, mrinal sen, but tapan sinha too was a great director and definately among the best all time directors of indian cinema.

You probably already know about ek doctor ki maut and safed haathi, but what is more important is that many great hindi films were actually remakes of tapan sinha\'s movies.
E.g. Gulzar\'s mere apne, ijaazat and lekin were remakes of tapanda\'s films apanjon, jatugriha and khudito pashan respectivey.
Hrishikesh mukherjee\'s arjun pandit and bawarchi were also remakes of tapanda\'s arohi and galpo holeo satyi respectively.
Balraj sahni strarrer kabuliwallah was also a remake of tapanda\'s film of the same name.Sadly, when tapanda made remakes of his own films in hindi himself like sagina mahato and zindagi zindagi ,they floped.
Sorry if you are bored by this long post, was just trying to give some info.
