The first Indian movie which could make it to the final nomination list at the OSCARS (in the Best Foreign Film Category), but didn’t win it. A true Indian film about love, care and anger a mother can feel about her child. Respected as the pioneer representative of Indian films, this movie is surely one of the most powerful movies ever made in Hindi Cinema.

The movie shows the kind of power a women has, playing so many roles in her life as a daughter, as a sister, as a wife and the most important one, as a mother. And imagine a moment in her life, when she decides to kill her own young son with her own hands to save the moral values of the society. Nargis, simply became immortal with her brilliantly performed and most appreciated role as the Mother India.
 
A pure triumph in cinema by one of the greatest film maker, Mehboob Khan. Sunil Dutt, Rajendera Kumar and Raj Kumar too have given their lifetime performances in this world famous movie. Strongly recommended for all.
