It was only due to the brilliance of a master film maker, Alfred Hitckcock, which made this film possible even when there were no computers and no graphical options available for special effects in the movies. It was really a brave attempt on Hitchcock’s part to opt for such kind of subject and that is the reason, why he is one of the most loved film makers all over the world.
The film revolves around the incidents of strange and horrifying attacks by birds on the humans in a specific city. There is no particular reason shown for their attacks but it seems that they are taking some sort of revenge from the people. The sight of hundreds of black birds (crows) sitting outside a house waiting for a victim generates a different kind of fear in the mind of the viewer. Usually horror, is synonym with spirits, ghosts and scary faces but here, horror created by the ugly black birds is surely a new experience on its own.
The master director is in true form, from the first attack sequence itself. And then he makes you sit straight waiting for some extraordinary and unexpected scenes to follow. Few sequences in the movie are quite brutal and bold in execution, which are strictly not recommended for minors. But at the same time, the narration and ambience created by the director is highly entertaining too. The most innovative and well written scene of the movie is its climax, which is worth watching, leaving an open end for the viewers to think it over. Though there are mixed responses towards its experimental end but the movie still remains a real masterpiece by Alfred Hitchcock, definitely finding its place among his Top 5 Films.
