The Godfather Trilogy (1972, 74 & 90) - (Movies To See Before You Die - Thriller)
18 May, 2008 | Movies To See Before You Die / Thrillers

There cannot be a movie lover all over the world who is not familiar with “The Godfather” Trilogy. And there cannot be an actor either who has not seen these movies (specially the first part) numerous times. Considered as one of the Top 10 All Time Hit Movies all over the globe, the trilogy indeed is a remarkable work by Francis Ford Coppola, along with impressive performances by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and more.

Copied in numerous Bollywood movies this is a dark and bold movie based on gangsters and gang wars. Though I consider Part I as the best pick of the three but quality wise all the parts are considered as cult movies now. The punchy one liners from the movie are still quoted in many new flicks even today. In simple words, the three movies are text book material for budding film-makers, actors, writers and students of cinema.

If we talk about the huge influence of this movie on Indian Cinema then majorly, Amitabh Bachchan did a Marlon Brando inspired act with voice modulation in his “Agneepath”. Kamal Hassan delivered a polished inspired performance in his “Nayakan”, followed by Vinod Khanna in “Dayavan”. And other than these, there are several hindi movies picking different sequences from the original masterpiece. The most recent version of the epic is “Sarkar” a hindi bollywood movie by Ram Gopal Verma.

To sum up, The Godfather Trilogy is a must see for every movie lover as a compulsion.
