An official remake of French thriller NUIT BLANCHE meaning Sleepless Night (2011), this is an unusual thriller revolving around a kidnap, drugs, a club, a don and a team of police officer dealing with them throughout a long night. Interestingly the original film directed and co-written by Frederic Jardin was also remade in English as SLEEPLESS (2017) directed by Baran Bo Odar featuring Jamie Foxx in the lead.
In the Tamil adaptation THOONGAA VANAM (meaning Sleepless Forest) directed by Rajesh M. Selva, we have Kamal Hassan playing the lead role of the officer along with Trisha, Kishore, Sampath Raj, Yugi Sethu, Asha Sarath and Madhu Shalini in the supporting roles. However the major attraction of this fast paced crime adventure is the clash between Kamal Hassan and Prakash Raj as the two strong opponents involving in a cat-and-mouse game within a night club.
