Aneez Bazmee strikes again with a comic movie featuring Akshay Kumar in the role of a Sikh. But he keeps his inspirational history intact as this successful attempt of his is also inspired from more than one source.

First one is Frank Capra’s “Lady For A Day” (1933) where a gangster helps a lady to portray herself as a rich socialite in front of her daughter who is coming for a visit.

Second is again Frank Capra’s “Pocketful of Miracles” (1961) where a lady is selling apples which are considered lucky. The lady’s daughter is coming to visit her and she thinks that her mother is a rich women. A drama is staged where that lady is turned into a rich person and the game goes on. In fact this was a version attempted by Frank Capra himself of his own film mentioned above.

Third is Jackie Chan’s “Ji ji” (1989) or “Mr Canton and Lady Rose” which is said to be inspired from the Frank Capra cinema in which the similar sequence is there. But here the lady is selling roses (same as in Singh Is Kinng) and again the drama of portraying as a rich lady in front of her daughter goes on.

But this movie also has one more plot which is copied in “Singh Is Kinng”. Here Jackie Chan plays a boy who rescues a gang boss. Due to this act, under some sudden circumstances Jackie becomes the head of a gang. He gives the credit of this change to a lady from whom he always took a rose which proved lucky for him. Jackie along with his friends tries to do a good deed for the old rose-seller when her daughter comes to visit, and also runs the gang meanwhile. Quite similar to “Singh Is Kinng”.
